Improvisation a toolkit for presence, play, and creative risk-taking — and for performers across disciplines, it opens fresh ways to connect with each other and the stage.

This six-week course invites dancers, actors, clowns, musicians, storytellers, circus artists — and anyone else who works live on stage — to rediscover spontaneity, build ensemble instincts, and explore how unscripted theater can deepen your existing craft.

✹We’ll begin with the core principles of improvisation: “yes, and”, active listening, intuitive response, and collaborative scene-building.

✹ From there, we’ll explore techniques from playback theater, Theater of the Oppressed, documentary theater, and happenings — weaving them into our own practices.

✹ The final sessions will focus on cross-disciplinary improvisation: how can we build world & craft stories together? How do we share timing, rhythm, and space? What is our common stage language?
